QUALIFICATIONS, practice AND COMPETENCIES :
»NYS certification as a School Building Leader is required.
»NYS Teaching Certification
»Minimum of three years of prosperous leadership abilities practice in the area of Special Education is required
» prosperous record of service as high school teacher is required.
»Strong communication, problem solving, and human relation expertise
tasks AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The Interim Administrator will:
»Provide leadership abilities and managerial oversight of instructional programs and school operations to ensure a school climate that fosters the educational development of each student
»Exercise sound judgment and appropriate discretion in the administration of professional tasks
»Demonstrate an knowledge of the regulations regarding the operations of a high school
»Demonstrate the capability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
»Demonstrate the capability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management information retrieval, visual and audio presentations
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Interim Administrator will:
»Assume responsibility for the management of the school in conformity with law, administrative code, Board policies, and regulations
»Exercise leadership abilities in school-level planning for improvement of instruction. Involve staff, students, and parents in the development of school plans to achieve student performance objectives, curriculum content standards and core course proficiencies
»Establish and maintain an effective learning climate in the school
»Conduct observations of teaching staff members, prepare written comments and offer constructive suggestions for improvement when appropriate
»Ensure the safekeeping of student and personnel files and other confidential records and documents and the destruction of public records in conformity with law and regulations
»Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional tasks and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines
»Prepare or supervise the preparation of all reports, records and other paperwork required or appropriate to the school’s administration.
»Conduct staff meetings as necessary for the proper functioning of the school
»Conduct CSE meetings
»Conduct and support the agency intake process for Special Education
»Plan and supervise regularly scheduled parent/teacher conferences and make arrangements for special conferences as necessary
»Maintain positive, cooperative, and mutually supportive relationships with the administration, instructional staff, students, parents, and representatives of resource agencies within the community
»Plan and facilitate faculty/staff meetings and serve, as appropriate, on Agency committees
»Continue to grow professionally through collaboration with colleagues and professional growth practices
»Perform any tasks that are within the scope of employment and certifications, as assigned and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation
»Adhere to New York school law, State Board of Trustees’ rules and regulations, Board of Trustees’ policies and regulations, school regulations and procedures, and contractual obligations
»Perform other related tasks as may be assigned by the Deputy Superintendent/ District Superintendent.
