Weston seeks a dynamic results-oriented Federal Construction Senior Project Manager with a strong seller/doer profile to lead federal construction projects and actively drive business growth. This pivotal role demands excellence in managing complex, fixed-price projects (primarily DoD and USACE, $10M+ budgets) while simultaneously possessing the capability and drive to identify, position for, and secure new opportunities. You will be instrumental in building and maintaining key client relationships, leading project execution from inception to closeout, and contributing directly to Weston's strategic growth in the Federal market within the Eastern US.

Key Responsibilities & Expected Outcomes: 

  • Project Execution Leadership:
    • Assemble and lead high-performing, geographically dispersed project teams (internal staff, subcontractors).
    • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risks, and quality to ensure Weston’s commitments and financial goals are met or exceeded.
    • Provide unwavering safety leadership on all managed projects.
    • Execute complex projects, ensuring timely and accurate communication, cost tracking, forecasting (Estimate to Complete), and reporting within Weston’s business processes.
    • Manage project changes effectively with both the client and the project team.
    • Ensure timely, accurate invoicing and proactive management of accounts receivable.
    • Guarantee compliance with Weston purchasing, subcontracting, and quality requirements.
  • Business Development & Client Relationship Management:
    • Actively participates in and often lead business development activities, including client engagement, opportunity identification, capture strategy, and positioning Weston for critical sales.
    • Spearhead or significantly contributes to proposal development, including technical approach writing, estimating, costing, profitability planning, and subcontractor/vendor identification and scoping.
    • Cultivate and strengthen strategic relationships with key clients (DoD, USACE), subcontractors, and vendors to foster repeat business and generate new leads.
    • Leverage project execution success to showcase Weston's capabilities and build trust for future opportunities.
    • Represent Weston professionally to promote capabilities and build connections within the industry.
  • Team & Stakeholder Management:
    • Build strong connections and foster collaborative relationships with major stakeholders.
    • Create a positive, high-quality work environment built on open communication and clearly defined expectations.
    • Proactively identify project issues, develop options, and implement corrective actions.
    • React effectively and collaboratively to changing project conditions.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  •  

    Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, electrical engineering, or construction management.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years' experience managing fixed-price construction projects, with a strong emphasis on Federal Projects (DoD/USACE experience highly preferred).
  • Experience managing project budgets of $10M+ gross.
  • Ability to track costs, forecast accurately (ETC), manage project profitability (NIBT, margins), and drive project underruns.
  • Demonstrated success in both managing federal construction projects and actively contributing to business development efforts, including client relationship building and proposal generation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse project teams (including geographically dispersed members) on projects of moderate size, scope, and complexity. Superior communication (written and verbal) and active listening skills.
  • Expert knowledge of MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint; proficient in MS Project and/or Primavera P6.
  • Ability to react effectively to changing conditions and travel as required to support project sites and client engagement throughout the U.S. (primarily Eastern US focus).

 

Preferred Experience: 

  • Security clearance or ability to obtain TS clearance.
  • Prior experience as a Contractor Quality Control Site Manager and Site Safety and Health Officer for Federal /DOD projects or the equivalent. 
  • Completed USACE Construction Quality Control Manager Certification and 40-Hr OSHA Training, or the ability to complete these in 3-months. 
  • Direct experience managing both fixed-price and cost-reimbursable DoD and/or USACE construction projects.
  • Experience managing projects in the field with daily direct client interaction.
  • Proficiency with RMS, Procore, or other construction management software.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.), Project Management Professional (PMP), or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification is a plus.

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.

 

Salary Range: $93,993-$124,333-$154,570
