At Miners Underground, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Directional Drill Locator. We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team on a Full-Time basis. This role is essential to our operations and involves working on-site, as it is not a remote position. The selected candidate will be responsible for operating drilling equipment to install underground utilities safely and efficiently. This pivotal position supports our commitment to providing high-quality services while adhering to the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.

The Directional Drill Locator plays a vital role, working closely with field crews to interpret job prints, maintain safety standards, and ensure that each job site is returned to our stringent quality standards after operation. This opportunity is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and passionate about contributing to successful project completions in the dynamic field of underground utility installations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Set up jobsite safety devices including cones, barricades, signage, and trench safety equipment.
• Load and unload equipment and materials required for the job.
• Inspect vehicles and trailers to ensure proper loading and safe transport.
• Stock trucks with necessary job materials and supplies.
• Maintain and clean drilling equipment and tools regularly.
• Utilize hand tools or equipment to dig and expose existing utilities, ensuring minimal disruption.
• Guide and direct laborers and other field staff on site.
• Operate directional drilling equipment to efficiently perform drilling operations.
• Restore the jobsite to company standards post-operation, ensuring no residue of work remains.
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members on job specifications and progress.
• Take proactive ownership of site safety, ensuring that all crew members adhere to established safety protocols.

Requirements:

• 1–3+ years of directional drilling experience, including setup, calibration, drilling, and pullback operations.
• 3+ years of experience operating a 20,000 lb or larger drill.
• Experience with DCI F2+ locating system.
• Experience with Underground Magnetics 5S locating system.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
• Reliable personal transportation.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a mindset of “finding a way to make it work”.
• Ability to meet physical demands of the job including lifting 50+ lbs, bending, digging, and standing/walking for extended periods.
• Capable of working in variable weather conditions.
• Must pass a drug test prior to employment.
• English/Spanish bilingual skills are a plus, enhancing communication across diverse teams.

All candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test . Ongoing testing may be required per company policy.
